WE ARE WHAT WE EAT??

We are what we eat, Sattvic food, rajasic food, tamasic food

Every living organism on earth requires some basic things to stay alive, these basic things include AIR, WATER, FOOD, and SUNLIGHT. These are basically a source of energy. Without this, it is impossible for any living organism to survive.

Among the above mentioned basic things to survive, one is FOOD. Everyone needs food to survive. Without food, our body won't have the energy to do anything. Through food, we get all the essential things needed for our body for example vitamins, proteins, minerals, carbohydrates, etc.

Different areas of different countries have different weather and hence different food is being cultivated in different areas of different countries. Wherever we go, we find different food to eat.

So can Different food have different impacts on our minds?
The answer is YES!

But how?
Different food has different impacts on our mind, sometimes in a very subtle way and other times in the way, in which we can observe it ourselves.

Many times we have observed that, when we eat something very spicy, salty emotions like anger comes up! When we eat something very heavy or some extra meals we feel very tired, and so on goes the list. But when we eat something very light, fresh, vegetarian, Sattvic food our mind gets elevated.

According to the knowledge given in BHAGAVAD GEETA, everything within Prakriti has three GUNAS. These three Gunas are RAJAS guna which is related to Passion, activity, anger, restlessness confusion then, TAMAS guna is related to lethargy, dullness, and laziness, destructive and the SATTVA guna is related to Goodness, balance, purity, constructive and harmony.

Food is also categorized as RAJAS/RAJASIC food, TAMAS/TAMASIC Food, and SATTVA/SATTVIC Food. The food we eat has an enormous impact on our physical, mental, and emotional and spiritual levels. The three Gunas are experienced as we eat these three types of food.

Have a look at what these three categories of food are!

RAJASIC FOOD:

This food increases energy in the body. Rajas food is those that have a stimulating effect on the mind and body. It denotes activity decision making, the energy that is required for the task, and mental robustness. Rajasic food energizes almost all the systems. Their effect on the mind is to help you push yourself beyond your normal capacity and capability, and this brings restlessness. This food can also over energies and lead to aggressiveness and irritability. Rajasic food, it can disrupt the equilibrium between body and mind. Consuming this food can cause poor digestion and thus poor health. Excessive consumption of rajasic food can also lead to a stressful life.
Example of rajasic food:

TAMASIC FOOD:

Tamasic food decreases the energy in the body. These food and substance do nothing to lift our energy and consciousness, in fact, they pull us downward into laziness and inertia. Tamasic foods are those that have a sedative effect on the mind and body, they are detrimental. According to Ayurveda, this food should be avoided as they cause mental dullness and physical numbness, wrong understanding. Tamasic food can cause obesity, diabetes, heart, and liver disease if consumed on a regular basis. After having this food person also feel unmotivated, and very less aware. Over tamas guna in the body can also lead to depression, grift, insensitivity.
Example of tamasic food:

SATTVIC FOOD

It is okay if you eat Rajasic food, as it brings dynamism in us, but it should be in limit.
It will be good if you don't eat tamasic food, as it has only negative effects.
Then you will have a question of how can we fall asleep without tamas guna?
Answer to this is After you have enough activity, your body will take its own time to rest, but when you consume tamasic food you tend to sleep more and become lazier, and if you eat more rajasic food then you won't be able to take rest. In sattva, there is balance in everything, you will feel active after consuming sattvic food, but you won't feel overactive or restless, on the other hand, you will fall asleep when needed, not become lazy, your body will get its required sleep on its own. Hence it is advised to eat sattvic food on a daily basis.

Other than what food we eat, how we eat also matters. You should eat food very slowly and chew it properly. These two things will ease the digestion process, and keep your body in harmony.

As we all know everything is vibration, so in a very subtle way, the mood of the one who cooks food also affects us in some way.

Just remember all these changes are very subtle, it cannot be noticed easily
EAT HEALTHY, AND STAY HEALTHY!
